credit card applicationMany business credit cards offer fabulous deals. Some of those deals are much better than those of consumer credit cards. But many people stop short of applying for business credit cards because they mistakenly believe that they need to run a corporation or LLC business to qualify for a business credit card. This is not the case. Anyone can apply for business credit cards even if they are not part of a corporation or LLC.

Why? Because an individual can be a business too. The type of the business is called a sole proprietorship, which is the simplest business entity. Sole proprietorship is completely legit and is recognized by the Internal Revenue Services (IRS). In a sole proprietorship, your name is your business name and your SSN is your business Tax ID. For example, you can be a sole proprietor if you are a self-employed CPA, or you are doing independent contract work for a company, or if you are just selling items through online sites like eBay or through garage sales.

When applying for a business credit card, you have to indicate your SSN and the Tax ID of the business, which you can simply put down your SSN for both fields. For the vast majority of business credit cards, even if you are part of a corporation or LLC, you will still be personally liable for business debts and credit card issuers use your own credit report to determine your qualification. That’s why they’ll always ask for your SSN. Once you have established enough business credit, your company will be recognized as a separate entity and your personal credit will not be as much of an issue.

For example, here is an example screen shot of applying for a business credit card. You can see that SSN is suggested as a valid option for the business tax identification number.

For most business credit cards, the credit card itself won’t show up in your personal credit report. This means that you can open many new accounts, max out the credit limits without affecting your personal credit score.

With many business credit cards offering attractive perks, don’t forget to check out those deals from time to time.

xhilton-hhonors.jpg.pagespeed.ic.cliXA-M5usWhen joining the Hilton HHonors Rewards program, you need to keep in mind three things. First of all, you will earn Hilton HHonors points only when you book directly from Hilton. Second, you need to find out how Hilton HHonors points work. The third, you need to understand what “my way earning style” is.

Book Direct

You will earn Hilton HHonors points only when you book directly from Hilton. What does that mean? That means only when you book through Hilton.com, Hilton direct booking line, Hilton hotel, you are allowed to earn HHonors points. If you book from online third party travel agency such as expedia.com, booking.com, priceline.com, you are not able to earn rewards points.

Two Types of HHonors Points

There are two types of HHonors Points: HHonors Base Points and HHonors Bonus Points. The HHonors base points will count toward your qualification for elite status; the bonus points can only be added to your total points for redemption.

Two Way to Earn Rewards

Hilton HHonors offer members two ways to earn rewards: “Points & Points” or “Points & Miles”. When choosing “Points & Points”, you will earn base points plus bonus points on the dollar you spend in Hilton Hotels and if you choose “Points & Miles”, you will earn base points plus miles on the dollar you spend.

When enroll the HHonors rewards program, don’t forget to choose either “Points & Points” or “Points & Miles” in “My Way Earning Style Option” in your profile, otherwise, you will lose your bonus points or miles and only earn base points.

Here are the steps you can follow to secure your bonus points or miles:

1. Enroll to Hilton HHonors – this is easy, just follow the instructions.
2. In account overview, choose “Edit Preferences”;

preference

3. In “preference” page, under “MYWAY EARNING STYLE PREFERENCES” click “change earning style”, you will see the following screen;
hilton myway earning style

4. In “choose a my way earning style” page, you can find there are 2 earning options: points & points, points & miles, choose your preferred option style.

If you spend a lot of time in flight, then the Points & Miles Earning Style is right for you. If you want to maximize your points to earn free hotel rewards nights as soon as possible, then you should choose Points & Points as your earning style. You are not able to earn “miles & miles” instead of “points & miles”. However, HHonors points can be transferred to airline miles. Also, you can change your preferred earning method directly in the settings of your Hilton HHonors account any time you change your mind.

icon-best-price-guaranteeIf you are a Hilton HHonors loyalty program member, the best way to book your hotel is to book directly through hilton.com – that is the only way you can earn Hilton HHonors rewards points for free hotel nights. If you book from third party travel websites such as expedia.com, booking.com or orbitz.com, you are not able to accumulate HHonor points.

Does that mean you may miss a lowest hotel price? Nope, if you book direct from Hilton.com and then you find a lower, publicly available price anywhere else within 24 hours of your booking, Hilton will match it and give you a $50 credit, that is what Hilton Best Price Guarantee offers.

For Hotels inside the USA, Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico, Hilton will give you a US $50 American Express Gift Cheque. The Gift Cheque will be sent to you the next business day after your stay is completed. For Hotels outside the USA, Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico, Hilton will adjust your bill by US $50 (or local currency equivalent).

How to File a Best Price Guarantee Claim

In order to claim best price guarantee credit, you need to provide a confirmation number. So you must first have a confirmed reservation made through one of the official Hilton Worldwide booking channels:

  • Any official Hilton Worldwide website
  • Hilton Reservations & Customer Care
  • Directly at a hotel in the Hilton Worldwide portfolio
  • Through an IATA accredited retail travel agent professional (“Travel Agent”) booking through a Hilton Worldwide channel or the following Global Distribution Systems: Amadeus, Apollo/Galileo, Worldspan and SABRE.

Next, you must find a lower publicly available price on a non-Hilton Worldwide booking channel (except for “opaque” websites) for the same room type, at the same hotel, with the same dates and length of stay, same number of guests, same designation as either cancellable or non-cancellable, same advance purchase policies, and the same terms and conditions governing the room price.

Finally, you must complete and submit a claim form online, or you can call 1-800- HILTONS (International: 00 800 888 44 888) and follow the telephone representatives instructions to process the claim.

Please note: your claim has to be submitted within 24 hours of making your reservation and at least 24 hours prior to your arrival at the hotel. The same accommodations must be available for purchase at the Lower price when Hilton validate your claim.

The Fine Print

Hilton Best Price Guarantee does not apply in the following situations:

  • Prices available on “opaque” websites where the hotel brand and specific hotel are not known until the booking is made (e.g., Priceline.com, Hotwire.com).
  • Hotel packages or travel packages which may include hotel, airfare, car rental, food and beverage offers or other similar packages or amenities.
  • Discount or negotiated prices not available to the general public, including but not limited to the following rates: membership (e.g., AAA, AARP or Saga), corporate, government, promotional, unpublished, Senior HHonors®, employee, offline wholesale/FIT, pre-paid rates which may include a voucher (including electronic vouchers), group or other specially negotiated rates.
  • Reservations made within 24 hours of arrival.

The worldwide Marriott PointSavers program is an exclusive special offer created just for Marriott Rewards members. PointSavers allows members to stay in highly desirable locations for fewer Marriott Rewards points. PointSavers is a global program and all brands participate, but not necessarily on all dates. Here is a list of participating PointSaver hotels. There are only a few participating hotels at a time and the list is always being revised, so you’ll want to visit often to see which brands and locations are available for your worldwide travels.

With PointSavers, you can redeem free nights for less. If a Category 1 Hotel costs 7,500 Reward points to redeem, then you can use 7,500 PointSavers to redeem a Category 2 Hotel. If a Category 2 Hotel costs 10,000 Reward points, then a Category 3 Hotel costs 10,000 PointSavers. Here is a table of the reward point conversions.

How do I book Marriott PointSavers?

  • When searching for a hotel, check “Use Marriott Rewards points.”
  • Enter your location and dates, then click “Find.”
  • Select the hotel of your choice, and click “View Rates.”
  • When PointSavers are available, it will display under room details.

What is Marriott Best Rate Guarantee Policy https://www.cardbenefit.com/what-is-marriott-best-rate-guarantee-policy/ https://www.cardbenefit.com/what-is-marriott-best-rate-guarantee-policy/#respond Mon, 24 Aug 2015 03:20:34 +0000 http://www.cardbenefit.com/?p=17650 You are guaranteed for the lowest rate if you book directly with Marriott. Otherwise Marriott will give you extra 25% discount. Here is how it works.

best rate guarantee (1)In order to compete with the online travel agents, Marriott wants to assure you that you’ll always get the best rate available when you book directly with Marriott. If not, they will match the lowest rate and give you extra 25% discount. Well, it seems you have no reason to book anywhere else. Also, when you book directly with Marriott, you are able to earn Marriott Rewards points and credits toward elite status.

Here’s how the Marriott best rate guarantee works:

  • Book a Marriott room using any Marriott reservation channel (Marriott.com, Marriott Hotel Telephone Reservations, or directly at a hotel).
  • If within 24 hours of making your reservation, you find a lower hotel rate for the same hotel, room type and reservation dates, then submit a qualified claim form, Marriott will match the rate and give you an extra 25% discount on the room.
  • If you found a lower rate through a Marriott Reservations Channel, a travel agency, or a travel management company, you must reserve the second reservation before completing the claim form. If you found your lower rate through a non-Marriott Internet site, you do not need to make a second reservation, but you will need to provide the Web address where you saw the lower rate.
  • When submitting the form, you need to provide the information of the room rate reserved at an official Marriott source and the “Comparison Rate” information such as room rate, currency, where did you find the lower rate, and a completed Claim Form has to be submitted within 24 hours and must be for the same hotel, room type and reservation dates.
claim form

The Fine Print

  • The Best Rate Guarantee does not apply to the following: Delta Hotels, Protea Hotels®, Ritz-Carlton Montreal, The Ritz London, Hotel Ritz Madrid, and Ritz-Carlton Residences.
  • One reservation must be made through any Marriott reservation channel such as Marriott’s worldwide reservations centers, a Marriott hotel or an official Marriott website, for one of the following brands: JW Marriott®, Renaissance® Hotels, Autograph Collection® Hotels, Marriott Hotels®, Marriott Vacation Club®, Marriott Executive Apartments®, The Ritz-Carlton®, Gaylord Hotels®, AC Hotels by Marriott®, Courtyard®, Residence Inn®, SpringHill Suites®, Fairfield Inn & Suites® , TownePlace Suites®, Moxy Hotels®, Atlantis, BVLGARI®, and EDITION®.
  • The “Comparison Rate” must be found, and a completed claim form submitted, within 24 hours of booking the reservation through the Marriott reservation channel and must be for the same hotel, room type and reservation dates. In addition, if the Comparison Rate is found on the day of arrival, the claim must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. of that day in the hotel’s time zone in order to ensure timely processing.
  • Marriott will verify the Comparison Rate within 24 hours of receiving your claim and notify you of the results. For claims submitted on the day of arrival, the claim will be processed within approximately four hours.
  • When multiple rates for the same hotel, reservation dates, and room type are available through a Marriott channel you must reserve the lowest rate to be eligible for the guarantee.
  • The Comparison Rate must be reservable by the general public and be verifiable by Marriott. If the Comparison Rate is offered through a Marriott channel, you must reserve that rate to qualify for the guarantee. Marriott will not charge a cancellation fee. If the Comparison Rate is reserved through a non-Marriott channel, Marriott is not responsible for any fees or other costs incurred due to cancellation of a reservation.
  • Rate comparison will be made net of any taxes, gratuities, or any other fees associated with the room rate, and the Comparison Rate must still be available at the time Marriott validates the claim. Rate disparities primarily attributable to fluctuations and/or differences in currency exchange rates are excluded from the guarantee. Marriott may deny claims where the difference between the comparison rate and the rate on the Marriott reservation channel is less than $1.
  • Comparison Rates applicable to only a portion of your entire scheduled stay will not be honored. Comparison Rates applicable to a multi-day stay will not be honored if the total room cost of the stay is the same or greater than the total room cost through a Marriott channel.

The Ritz-Carlton Rewards program is in most aspects the same thing as Marriott Rewards, but with a different name and branding. Marriott Rewards can earn and spend points at Ritz-Carlton hotel properties, and Marriott elite members receive the same treatment at Ritz-Carlton hotels as Ritz-Carlton elite members of the same level, (i.e. Marriott Rewards Gold member = Ritz-Carlton Rewards Gold member). You are only allowed to be a member of one Rewards program.

There are two main differences

Promotions

A couple times a year, Marriott runs their MegaBonus offer, in which two stays earns a free night. For most members the free night is capped at a redemption for a category 4 hotel.

Ritz-Carlton also has the same promotion of stay two get one night (up to 2 free nights), but it is specific to earning for Ritz-Carlton stays, and allows redemption for a Ritz-Carlton night instead of a mid-tier Marriott night.

Co-branded credit cards

The Ritz-Carlton Rewards credit card offers Gold status free the first year, and then renews Gold after $10,000 in spending each year. There are annual travel credits and hotel credits to offset the $395 annual fee for the card. You also receive 2 complimentary nights at any participating Tier 1-4 Ritz Carlton hotel, after you spend $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from your account opening.

The Ritz-Carlton Rewards credit card details:

  • Annual Points Premium: Receive a 10% Annual Points Premium on Ritz-Carlton Rewards points earned through card purchases made during the year.
  • Points per $1 Spent at any Participating Ritz-Carlton Hotel or our Worldwide Partner Hotels: Earn 5 points per $1 at any participating Ritz-Carlton® hotel or our worldwide partner hotels including JW Marriott®, EDITION®, Autograph Collection® Hotels, Renaissance® Hotels and Marriott Hotels & Resorts®. Earn 2 points per $1 on airline tickets purchased directly with the airline, and at car rental agencies, and restaurants, and 1 point per $1 on all other card purchases.
  • Upgrades to the Ritz-Carlton Club® Level Each Year: Enjoy complimentary upgrades to The Ritz-Carlton Club® Level 3 times annually on paid stays of up to 7 nights. Advanced reservations and e-certificate are required.
Annual Travel Credit: $300 annual travel credit to use for baggage fees, Global Entry fees, seat upgrades, access to your preferred airport lounge and more.
  • Hotel Credit on Paid Stays of 2 Nights or Longer: $100 hotel credit toward dining, spa, or other hotel recreational activities on paid stays of two nights or longer.

The Marriott Rewards Premier Credit Card offers Silver Elite status right after account approval and every year after account anniversary. You receive one free night stay at category 1-5 hotels every year after your account anniversary.
