Bellevue Arts Museum has become the Pacific Northwest's center to experience art, craft, and design. As one of few museums that grew out of an art fair, the museum was started by a handful of dedicated volunteers who held the first art fair in 1947, which eventually led to the founding of the museum in 1975.
Located in the heart of downtown Bellevue, the three-story, 36,000 square foot museum was designed by internationally renowned architect Steven Holl. Its bold glass, aluminum, and textured concrete structure provides a dramatic presence across the street from Bellevue Square.
With a long history of community engagement, Bellevue Arts Museum today is home to provocative exhibitions and programs highlighting some of the region's most influential artists as well as international collections. It provides a public forum for community to contemplate, appreciate, and discuss visual culture.
