Museums on Us® by Bank of America
Bank of America has been running a program of Museums on Us® for over 20 years. This distinctive program offers its customers free admission to over 200 museums on the first full weekend of every month. If you are a Bank of America customer, you can then take advantage of this program to gain free entry to museums. Simply present your active Bank of America credit or debit card and a photo ID at any participating museum, you will gain one free general admission to any participating museum, excluding special exhibitions, ticketed shows and fundraising events.

All cardholders of Bank of America credit cards are eligible to receive one free pass for each museum on the first weekend each month. You can visit as many museums as you wish. There is no limit on the number of museums to be visited during the promotional dates. Museum hopping is fun, especially when it is free of charge and you happen to be traveling to a new city. It is a great perk that can save you hundreds of dollars per year in value if you have one of the following eligible credit cards:

There are more than 200 museums that participate in the Museums on Us® in November, 2024. Museum participants include some of the largest and most visited museums, including Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Art Institute of Chicago, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, etc. You can find the complete list of museums that participate in the program here.

How do I get a ticket to the Metropolitan Museum of Art
You can apply for one of the Bank of America credit cards first. Then you can present the credit card, along with your ID, at box office of Metropolitan Museum of Art to get a free admission pass.
Our local museum is requiring a promo code in order to reserve the free tickets. I can’t find the promo code anywhere. What is it?

LACMA Has a Very Limited number of tickets available for first full weekend. so it’s impossible to reserve and also no options to reserve free online tickets.

The museum I want to go to (LACMA) only has online tickets right now and no walk-ins due to COVID. How do I get free tickets?
You may reach out to ticketoffice@lacma.org or 323 857-6010 to ask the museum about free admission tickets. Hopefully free tickets can be arranged by allowing you to send a copy of your Bank of America card.
Were you able to get in for free? If so, how?
Can I use my BOA credit card shown in my iPhone Wallet app instead of the actual physical credit card?
Although we don’t have experience on this to confirm it one way or another, it seems that it should work, because museums just want to verify that you have a Bank of America card (debit or credit) and the name on the card matches your ID (driver license, etc). Museums don’t need to swipe your cards on any devices. A Bank of America app on your iPhone Wallet should show your name on it and it should be good enough.
Are there any botanical gardens free admissions in the program?
Yes, there are a few botanic gardens in the program. For example, Denver Botanic Gardens in Colorado, Selby Gardens in Florida, Portland Japanese Garden in Oregon, Dixon Gallery and Gardens in Tennessee. I included my wife as an authorized person and she got the credit card which has same card number but her name on it. Can both of us get free tickets at the same time?
Yes, both of you will get free museum admission tickets, because it does not matter if both of you have the same card number. They only check to see that the name on the credit card matches the identity on the driver license.
What happened to the free zoo visits?
There are a few zoos participating in the Museums on Us program. For example, Staten Island Zoo in New York, The Living Desert in California, Zoo Knoxville in Tennessee. Most program participants are art, culture, or children’s museums, though. You can see the list of participants at https://www.cardbenefit.com/museums-on-us-participating-museums/.
Does my Bank of America debit VISA card for my HSA account qualify for the museum admission benefit?
Yes, a Bank of America debit card will qualify for the free museum admission benefit.
How many Free Museum Admission ? Only kids, or whole family, or including adults ?
You will receive 1 free general admission per Bank of America debit or credit card. The free admission will be for the cardholder of the debit or credit card.
If you add other family members as account users, they will each have a card with their name on it. Then each will just need a photo ID as well. (Years ago, I took my kids to the museum this way — back when their Bank of America debit cards still had photos on them.)
